Senator Qasim Ronjho had crossed floor to vote in favour of constitutional amendment
ISLAMABAD: A key figure within the Balochistan National Party (BNP) Mengal, Senator Qasim Ronjho, has resigned from his Senate seat.
A defector from the opposition party voting in favour of the 26th constitutional amendment presented by the government, Ronjho has also served as the parliamentary leader of BNP Mengal in the Senate. He submitted his resignation to the party leadership today.

BNP leader Sajid Tareen confirmed that the resignation has been received and will be formally submitted to the Senate after internal discussions conclude. A party meeting is currently underway to finalise decisions related to the matter.
This development follows party chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal’s request for the resignation of both Senator Qasim Ronjho and Senator Naseema Ehsan, after they voted in favour of the 26th constitutional amendment, defying the party’s stance.
