RAWALPINDI: Punjab government has extended the ban on meetings with prisoners at Adiala Jail for an additional two days due to heightened security concerns, sources revealed.
Initially, the Punjab government had imposed the restriction until October 18, but it has now been extended, affecting visits to political and non-political prisoners alike.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders were all set to meet with their party chairman Imran Khan at Adiala Jail later today
However now with the extension in ban in meetings at Adiala Jail it seems highly unlikely that anyone will be allowed to meet Imran Khan.
According to sources, the extension comes amid growing concerns about potential security threats within and around the jail.

Authorities have decided to limit access to prisoners as a precautionary measure. Sources said that this step is crucial to maintain order and prevent any untoward incidents.
The decision would not only impact the incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan but will also impact families and legal representatives trying to meet inmates, causing significant inconvenience.
Adiala Jail has often been at the center of political attention, housing several high-profile political figures, which necessitates stringent security measures.
While no specific threats have been disclosed publicly, officials are reportedly maintaining a high alert inside the prison. The ban will continue to apply to all categories of prisoners.
