RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Army Major Muhammad Awais embraced martyrdom while 13 terrorists of Fitna-al-Khawarij killed in three separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.
According to the ISPR statement, the operations were conducted on December 25-26 in KP.
“On reported presence of Khawarij, an intelligence based operation was conducted by the security forces in general area Jani Khel, Bannu district,” the ISPR said, adding, “During the conduct of operation, own troops effectively engaged the khawarij location and resultantly, two Khawarij were sent to hell.”
Another intelligence based operation was conducted in North Waziristan district. “In ensuing fire exchange, five Khawarij were effectively neutralised by security forces, while eight khawarij got injured,” the ISPR added.
However, during intense exchange of fire in North Waziristan operation, Major Muhammad Awais, 31, resident of Narowal district, paid the ultimate sacrifice and embraced Shahadat. According to ISPR, he was a brave officer, who was leading his troops from the front and fought gallantly.
In a third encounter that took place in South Waziristan district, security forces “successfully neutralised six Khawarij, while eight khawarij were injured”.
“Sanitization operations are being carried out to eliminate any other Khawarji found in the area, as security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe-out the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthens our resolve,” the ISPR statement read.
