RAWALPINDI: Saddar Baironi police have registered a case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan, PTI lawyer Naeem Panjotha and others after PTI workers attacked and manhandled journalists outside Adiala jail.
The incident occurred when Aleema Khan and other PTI leaders began a media talk outside the Adial jail, where former prime minister Imran Khan has been incarcerated after convictions in a slew of cases, including the state secrets, the Toshakhana and the Al-Qadir Trust cases.
During the media talk, journalist Tayyab Baloch asked a question regarding Aleema Khan’s alleged properties in the United States, reportedly acquired through Shaukat Khanum Hospital funds.
According to sources, PTI workers attacked Baloch after he posed the question.
In his complaint registered at the Saddar Baironi Police Station, Baloch stated that PTI lawyer Naeem Panjotha incited workers, asking them to “teach him a lesson” for questioning Aleema Khan.

Baloch alleged that MPA Tanveer Aslam, Azfar and Tomma grabbed him, while Intisar Satti and around 40 unidentified PTI workers assaulted him.
He said the attackers snatched his mobile phone, broke his microphone, and also assaulted journalists Ejaz Ahmed and Faisal Hakeem when they tried to intervene.
He further claimed that Aleema Khan had previously launched a social media campaign against him for raising the property issue, posting pictures of him, Faisal Hakeem and Ghulam Rasool Qambar to malign them.
Sources said that two journalists, including Baloch, sustained injuries in the assault, with their clothes torn before fellow journalists intervened.
Police later booked Aleema Khan, Naeem Panjotha, Intisar Satti and about 40 unidentified PTI workers in FIR (1169/25) under sections 506, 147, 149, 382 and 427 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Sources said that the violence erupted during Aleema Khan’s scheduled media talk outside Adiala Jail.
Senior police officers, including SP Saddar Nabeel Khokhar, ASP Zainab Ayub and SHO Aizaz Azim, later reached the scene with reinforcement and detained several PTI workers from Gate 1 of the jail. However, most of the attackers escaped the scene, the sources said.
Earlier, two women were taken into custody for hurling egg at Aleema Khan during her media talk outside Adiala jail.
Police said the women were shifted to the Adiala jail police post following the incident, which briefly caused commotion but was quickly brought under control.
