Aleema Khan makes direct contact with KP workers amid rift in PTI – HUM News

PESHAWAR: After accusing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership of lacking commitment to securing the release of former prime minister Imran Khan, his sister Aleema Khan has made direct contact with “enraged and disgruntled” party workers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to launch a campaign for the release of the PTI founder.

Sources close to the matter confirmed to HUM News English that during her visit to Peshawar and Mardan, Aleema Khan avoided the party’s provincial leadership, including Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, who also serves as the party’s provincial president. Instead, she spoke directly with party workers in both cities.

According to the sources, Aleema Khan has discreetly initiated a campaign in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for her brother’s release, holding meetings with party workers in Peshawar and Mardan.

Accompanied by Khadija Shah, she did not inform the provincial government or the top party leadership about her visit, nor did she meet with party leaders.

During her visit, Aleema Khan met with party workers who had been released from jail, as well as their families. She reportedly told them that she plans to start a campaign for the release of the PTI founder, alongside committed workers who have sacrificed for the party.

Interestingly, the party’s provincial and district leadership, including provincial ministers and party MNAs and MPAs, were unaware of Aleema Khan’s visit to Peshawar and Mardan.

When contacted, PTI Peshawar District President and Member of the National Assembly Arbab Sher Ali stated that he was not informed of Aleema Khan’s visit to the two cities.

Earlier, Aleema Khan criticized party leaders after a rally in Tarnol, Islamabad, was postponed. She also questioned the motives behind PTI leader Azam Swati’s early morning visit to Adiala jail to meet Imran Khan, which led to the postponement of the Islamabad rally.

Taking aim at the PTI leadership, Aleema Khan stated that they lacked the resolve and commitment to secure Imran Khan’s release, who often make unilateral decisions without the PTI founder’s input.

It should be remebered that PTI workers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad criticised the party leadership afte the postponment of the planned rally in Tarnol. Some party workers also attmpted to attack party leaders including Omar Ayub after the party called off the planned public meeting in the federal capital on August 22.
