After Islamabad, windstorm knocks out power in Lahore – HUM News

LAHORE:  Heavy rain and strong winds swept through Lahore on Thursday, causing widespread power outages, toppling trees, and halting the Pakistan Super League (PSL) match between Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators.

According to Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), more than 207 feeders tripped due to the storm, plunging several neighbourhoods into darkness. Areas affected included Sadar, Cantt, Rizwan Garden, Dharampura, Gulberg, Samanabad, Ichhra, Muslim Town and Garden Town.

LESCO officials stated that restoration efforts would begin as soon as the rain subsides.

The storm also caused a tree to fall on College Road, while heavy rainfall was reported in Mason Road, Gaddafi Stadium and surrounding areas.

Rain washes out PSL match

At Gaddafi Stadium, the PSL match between Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators was suspended due to rain. Lahore had reached 111 for 3 in 11.3 overs before the interruption.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has forecast the current spell of rain and dust storms to continue across Punjab until May 4.

Authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel during turbulent weather conditions.
