The funds will be used to restore around 900 kilometres of rural roads in the region, which were heavily damaged by recent floods, according to the ADB.
These restored roads are expected to significantly improve access to essential services such as education, healthcare, and markets for the local population. In a statement, the ADB emphasised the importance of road transport in Pakistan, describing it as a “lifeline” for its citizens.
In addition to improving infrastructure, the project is set to create employment opportunities for millions of people, contributing to the economic uplift of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
