KARACHI: Atleast 22 people are trapped in an apartment building as the roofs of three floors of the building collapsed in the densely populated Kharadar area of Karachi.
According to rescue officials, the roofs of three floors of a six-storey residential building collapsed, leaving 22 people from three families trapped inside.

According to rescue officials, the roofs of the 6th, 5th, and 4th floors gave way possibly due to the construction of 8th floor on the building. Upon receiving the report, emergency teams rushed to the site and began rescue operations using a snorkel to safely evacuate the trapped residents.

Rescue efforts are facing challenges to carry out the rescue operation in the Karachi apartment building collapse incident due to the congested nature of the area.
Panic has spread among locals, while authorities have assured that all possible resources are being deployed to prevent any casualties.

Meanwhile at least eight people lost their lives in separate rain-related incidents across Karachi.
Rescue sources said a father and daughter died after the roof of their house collapsed in Lyari, leaving five others injured. In another similar incident in Manzoor Colony, a child was killed while a father and son were injured when their roof caved in.
Meanwhile, five people were electrocuted in different parts of the city. A 40-year-old man named Gulfam died due to electrocution in New Karachi’s Sector 11-J, while a 22-year-old man lost his life in a similar incident in Golimar.
Two more young victims, 21-year-old Ahmed and 17-year-old Mudassir, were killed by electric shocks in Surjani Town and Korangi, respectively.
