Sham Kaushal, Vicky Kaushal’s father and veteran action director, recently shared insights into his son’s early struggles in the film industry.
In an interview with Friday Talkies, Sham revealed that filmmakers were initially reluctant to invest in Vicky’s career, even after he expressed an interest in acting. “I couldn’t say no because I was earning from the same industry. I thought someone might offer them tea out of respect for me, but nobody would invest crores in a film with them,” Sham recalled.
Despite the initial setbacks, Vicky Kaushal’s father remained confident in his sons’ potential, adding, “I believed that if they stayed honest and put in effort, they would not be denied.”
Sham also reflected on Vicky’s early roles, specifically in Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana, where Vicky had a small role. “Vicky ka kya audition lena? (What is the need to audition Vicky for this role)? Until you experience humiliation, you won’t truly grow. Make that insult your strength,” Sham said.
He encouraged his son to embrace every opportunity, even when others advised against it. “I told him to listen to his heart,” Sham said, supporting Vicky’s decision to accept the role.
Vicky Kaushal, who made his Bollywood debut with Masaan, has since starred in several successful films, including Raazi, Uri: The Surgical Strike, and Sardar Udham. His next project is Chhaava, an epic action-drama directed by Laxman Utekar.
