Zareen Khan, who made her Bollywood debut opposite Salman Khan in the 2010 film Veer, recently opened up about the constant comparisons to Katrina Kaif that have often overshadowed her career.
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Veer director Anil Sharma addressed the perception, admitting that Zareen resembled Katrina but clarified that it wasn’t the primary reason for her casting.
He explained that although Katrina had initially shown interest in the film, the makers were looking for a fresh face, and it was Salman Khan who suggested Zareen.
Sharma praised Zareen’s efforts and noted that she worked hard to fit into the role, but acknowledged the striking similarity between her appearance and Katrina’s.
However, Zareen has expressed frustration over being labeled as a lookalike, revealing in a past interview with Navbharat Times that she had always aimed to create her own identity in the industry. She stated that no filmmaker is interested in casting a duplicate, and despite her years of struggle, the comparison to Katrina still persists.
Meanwhile, Salman Khan is gearing up for his next film, Sikandar, directed by Sajid Nadiadwala and AR Murugadoss, set to release its teaser on his birthday, December 27, 2024. The film stars Rashmika Mandanna, Pratiek Babbar, and others.
