Vanner member Hyesung has been discharged from his mandatory military service less than a month after enlisting due to medical reasons, according to KLAP Entertainment. The agency shared the news on December 16, citing the idol’s ongoing mental health challenges.
“Hello, this is KLAP Entertainment. We would like to inform you that VANNER’s Hyesung has been discharged from military service on December 16 due to medical reasons,” the agency said in a statement.
Hyesung, who enlisted in November, was admitted to the Armed Forces Daejeon Hospital two weeks after joining for a detailed examination. “Based on the results of the examination, the Military Manpower Administration determined that he was unfit for active military service and required ongoing treatment, leading to his discharge on medical grounds,” the statement continued.
The agency apologized to fans for the unexpected announcement. “We sincerely apologize for causing concern with this sudden news to the fans who have been waiting for updates on Hyesung,” it said. KLAP Entertainment also assured fans that the company is prioritizing Hyesung’s recovery. “Our company will continue to do our utmost to ensure that Hyesung can focus on his treatment moving forward. Thank you.”
Vanner, formed in 2019, includes members Taehwan, Gon, Hyesung, Sungkook, and Yeonggwang. The group is known for albums like V and Take Off.
