Shraddha Kapoor’s horror-comedy ‘Stree 2’ has outperformed Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback film Pathaan at the domestic box office, becoming the second highest-grossing Hindi film in India.
According to reports, Stree 2 crossed INR 527 crore (net) in domestic earnings as of Sunday, surpassing the INR 524.53 crore of YRF’s spy thriller Pathaan. This achievement follows Stree 2 also surpassing the Hindi version of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion.
The number one spot is currently held by SRK’s Jawan, a collaboration with director Atlee, which has earned INR 582.31 crore domestically.
Notably, Stree 2 has faced little competition in recent weeks, as Kangana Ranaut’s debut directorial Emergency was delayed due to CBFC clearance issues.
However, The Buckingham Murders, an investigative thriller by Hansal Mehta starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, is set to release on September 13.
Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 features Shraddha Kapoor alongside Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Banerjee. The film also included special appearances by Akshay Kumar, Varun Dhawan, and Tamannaah Bhatia.
