- Actress Seema Pahwa has a diverse career in the entertainment industry, including theater, television, and films.
- She conducts acting workshops to train newcomers, but believes teaching acting to untrained actors is wasteful.
- She argues that the industry is no longer about art, but business.
Seema Pahwa has worked across all spheres of the entertainment industry, from theater and television to films. She even made her directorial debut with Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi. In addition to her acting career, Pahwa conducts acting workshops to train newcomers entering the industry. However, she believes teaching acting to untrained actors wastes money. Seema also stated that the industry no longer revolves around art.
In a candid interview with Bollywood Thikana, Seema Pahwa shared her view that teaching acting to untrained actors wastes money. The Gangubai Kathiawadi actress revealed that some filmmakers approach her to train actors and conduct workshops, but she flatly refuses every time.
When asked why, she explained that filmmakers should use trained actors instead of hiring untrained people and then teaching them how to act. “Give the deserving a chance. What new are these untrained actors going to bring to the cinema? Why waste that money and investment?” the senior actress questioned.
In the same conversation, she revealed that many talented actors, despite struggling and spending a lot of their money, take up minor jobs to pay their bills due to a lack of work. She added that although they carry guilt, the actor inside them never dies. Making a shocking remark, she said, “There is no point beating around the bush. Our industry is not about art anymore. It is all about business.”
The Badhaai Do actress quickly highlighted that many actors, trained at acclaimed acting institutes, still don’t get cast in any films. “I know of someone who is an acting graduate and a theatre artist, who quit acting and left the city because of a lack of offers,” said Seema.
Meanwhile, Seema Pahwa will next appear in Bhool Chuk Maaf, starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi. Directed by Karan Sharma, the entertainer is set to hit the big screens on May 9, 2025.
