In his first interview since the attack, Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan revealed if he is considering improving his house security. Despite the attack, Saif has no plans to increase security or keep weapons at home.
He explained, “Nothing will change. See, if you start doing that… because I don’t feel I’m under threat. It was not a premeditated attack. I think it just was a burglary attempt gone wrong. That poor guy, his life is more screwed than mine.”
He described it as “a burglary attempt gone wrong.” While trying to intervene, he sustained stab wounds to his thoracic spine, requiring surgery to remove a piece of the knife from his body.
He was attacked with a knife during an attempted robbery at his Bandra residence on January 16. The incident occurred at the home he shares with his wife, Kareena Kapoor, and their two children.
When asked if he would have handled the situation differently, he said, “I would put on the light and firstly tell him, ‘Do you know who I am?’ And I think he would say, ‘Oh s**t! I’m in the wrong house.’ And I’d say ‘Right, put the knife down and let’s talk about this.’”
Saif suffered six injuries, including deep cuts, and underwent surgery at Lilavati Hospital. The Mumbai police arrested a Bangladeshi man, Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, in connection with the attack. Saif was discharged on January 21 and was later seen promoting his upcoming Netflix film, Jewel Thief.
