In the week leading up to Liam Payne’s death from a fall at a Buenos Aires hotel, the former One Direction member was reportedly caught in a legal dispute with his ex-fiancée, Maya Henry.
According to a Page Six report on November 12, Henry’s legal team sent Payne a cease and desist letter on October 9, accusing him of sending “unsolicited and disturbing” explicit photos and videos to her and her family.
The letter further alleged that Payne was attempting to engage in “revenge porn,” threatening to release intimate material involving Henry and his then-girlfriend, Kate Cassidy.
A message obtained by the tabloid revealed Payne had been communicating with a third party about distributing the explicit content. The woman claimed Payne asked her if she wanted to see “nudes of [Henry] or his current girlfriend,” and she declined, warning Henry about the situation.
Maya Henry previously spoke about Payne’s troubling behavior. On a podcast, she said, “He would always play with death and be like, ‘Well, I’m going to die. I’m not doing well.’” She alleged that Payne often used manipulation tactics to “traumatize” her after their breakup.
Liam Payne tragically fell to his death on October 16. His toxicology report indicated multiple drugs in his system.
