Veteran Pakistani actor Javed Sheikh recently shared an interesting anecdote about his first meeting with Bollywood star Emraan Hashmi during the filming of Jannat in Cape Town. While appearing on the Ramadan transmission, Sheikh revealed that his initial interaction with Hashmi was far from warm.
“I was on the set when the director introduced me to Emraan Hashmi. I said, ‘Assalamu Alaikum.’ He rudely behaved with me, ignored my greeting, and went away,” Sheikh recalled. The actor, who has worked with Bollywood icons like Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Salman Khan, was surprised by Hashmi’s behavior. “They all call me Javed ji,” he noted, implying that respect is a given among industry peers.
When asked to rehearse with Hashmi, Sheikh refused to approach him. “I told the director, ‘I am not going anywhere; he will come to me.’” Eventually, the director convinced Hashmi to come to Sheikh for the rehearsal.
Sheikh emphasized his belief in mutual respect, stating, “If you will respect, you will get it from me.” He added that he does not seek revenge harshly but in a “soft and stylistic” manner.
Despite the initial coldness, Hashmi later approached Sheikh personally after two weeks of silence, eventually striking up a conversation and resolving the tension between them.
