Wamiqa Gabbi has been creating buzz online since her appearance in “Baby John” alongside Varun Dhawan and Keerthy Suresh. Previously, we exclusively reported that she secured a role in Akshay Kumar’s “Bhooth Bangla”. Now, the latest reports suggest she will share the spotlight with Ranveer Singh in a superhero film inspired by “Shaktimaan”.
Mid-Day reports that Wamiqa Gabbi is the leading contender to join director Basil Joseph, known for “Minnal Murali”, in his upcoming superhero film. Starring Ranveer Singh, the project is a Bollywood adaptation of the iconic Indian superhero “Shaktimaan”.
A source close to the project revealed that “Baby John” actress Wamiqa Gabbi is attracting significant attention for her versatile performances in Hindi and regional cinema. Rumors also suggest that she is set to sign a Telugu project opposite Nani.
“Currently, it’s all dialogue, but if the film materializes, the pairing of Wamiqa and Ranveer in Basil’s film would add fresh energy to the project that has been in the works for five years now,” the source was quoted as saying.
Although no official announcement has been made yet, an insider revealed that the film is in its early stages, with pre-production underway. The source added that despite his limited proficiency in Hindi, director Joseph has been holding readings and meetings with Ranveer in Mumbai.
The source said, “Once the script is completed and final dates are worked out, this will be finalized.” They added that, in the meantime, Ranveer Singh is busy wrapping up Aditya Dhar’s spy film. The source also stated that Singh will shift his focus to the superhero film after March.
The source exclusively reported last year that “Shaktimaan” has been in the writing stage for over three years. We also revealed that the film, directed by Basil Joseph, will be produced by Sony Pictures India and Sajid Nadiadwala. This ambitious feature film is set for release in 2026, with shooting expected to begin in May 2025.
