Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson recently shared why returning to a WWE wrestling ring after 11 years is a challenging endeavor, especially at the age of 52.
Speaking to PEOPLE at the opening of Cirque du Soleil’s Auana in Honolulu, the Red Notice actor admitted, “It’s incredibly hard,” due to the intense physical demands of wrestling. He further explained, “The training becomes really extensive, and the training camp becomes extensive,” highlighting the rigorous preparation required for a return to the ring.
Earlier this year, Dwayne discussed his training camp for WrestleMania, which lasted about eight to nine weeks. “It’s really fast, and fortunately, I was able to get through it all,” he said, reflecting on his successful training despite the physical challenges.
There is speculation that Dwayne will return to the WWE ring for WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas next year. He also recently teamed up with Roman Reigns in a match against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins, whom he praised as “great dance partners.”
In addition to his WWE comments, Dwayne promoted his two 2024 films, Red One and Moana 2, expressing his excitement over the global reception of Polynesian culture in Moana 2, calling it “an incredible global embrace.”
