Sean Diddy rushes to find this type of lawyer for defense just before trial
Sean Diddy Combs, who has been incarcerated since September 2024, is actively seeking a new lawyer, specifically a Black female lawyer. With his highly public federal trial approaching, he is reportedly working to assemble a larger legal team and looks to include this new addition to represent him.
The sources close to the case suggest that Diddy’s move aims to diversify his legal team, as he faces serious charges ranging from sex trafficking to related offenses.
Diddy’s defense team currently includes veteran attorneys Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos, both of whom are white. His lawyers have already framed the case as racially charged, implying that the federal government is unfairly targeting a rich and powerful Black American male.
Sources confirmed to the outlet that Diddy is not seeking a Black female attorney for appearances but to bring in a commanding legal presence capable of managing what promises to be a contentious and high-stakes courtroom battle.
Most recently, Anthony Ricco, a Black lawyer who was once on Diddy’s legal team, stepped aside for unknown reasons. His withdrawal has accelerated the search for new additions to the defense team.
In addition to the ongoing search, Brian Steel, Young Thug’s lawyer, has joined Diddy’s side. Steel famously defended Thug in his YSL RICO case. Veteran attorney Mark Geragos could also play a key role in the case, according to the outlet. Despite these changes, Agnifilo and Geragos remain the lead counsels.
The rapper’s complaint strengthened in April when authorities unsealed two additional charges involving one more alleged victim. Sean Diddy Combs pleaded not guilty to all the allegations. His trial begins on May 5.
