A tragic stampede during the premiere of Allu Arjun’s latest film, Pushpa 2: The Rule, at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad claimed the life of a female fan, Revathi, and left her son critically injured.
The incident occurred on December 4 when a massive crowd gathered unexpectedly to catch a glimpse of the star, police said. A case has been filed against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under Sections 105 and 118(1) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Allu Arjun addressed the tragedy in a heartfelt video, saying, “When we went to the premieres of Pushpa recently, unexpectedly, there was a massive turnout. We found out the next morning that a family was injured in the crowd, and a mother of two children, Revathi, unfortunately, died. We were very disappointed and shocked; none of us feel like celebrating.”
Arjun announced an INR 25 lakh donation to the bereaved family and pledged to support the children’s future needs. “Nothing we say or do can help with the loss. From my side, I want to donate ₹25 lakh as a gesture to show I am there for you, especially for the children,” he said.
Producer Bunny Vas and the Pushpa 2 team have also reached out to the family, while Telangana authorities have banned benefit shows to prevent such incidents in the future.
