Renowned actor Ali Safina recently voiced his disappointment with Pakistanis who persistently criticize their country. On a recent podcast, Safina shared insights into his life, including his shift from engineering to acting.
Raised in Oman and educated in Scotland, Safina returned to Pakistan “out of love for his country.” He expressed frustration with the prevalent trend of speaking negatively about Pakistan, stating, “I will never speak negatively about Pakistan. It has become a trend to speak ill of one’s own country. We keep downplaying our own people.”
Safina questioned the widespread anger and excessive criticism directed at various sectors, asking, “Why have people fostered so much anger among themselves and do not spare anyone from criticism?” He added, “We constantly talk about the establishment, politics, cricketers, artists. Come on! Give us a break.”
He also highlighted the lack of support for national achievements, citing criticism of Pakistan’s space endeavors. “When we sent our first satellite to the moon, people were even criticizing that,” he remarked.
In the podcast, Safina also discussed fair pay in the entertainment industry. He supported equal pay for actresses, noting, “Actresses should be given equal pay because they put in so much effort but men work harder.” He advocated for substantial compensation for both lead and supporting cast members, suggesting that TV channels should pay royalties as dramas are also released online.
