Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar recently shared that he worked as a ‘peon’ at a travel agency in Kolkata in 1984, earning around $10 to $15 a month.
This revelation came during promotional events for his film Raksha Bandhan, where he reflected on his connection to the historic Globe Cinema, set to reopen on October 8. At the age of 15 or 16, Akshay often visited the Globe to watch movies while working at the agency.
Satyadeep Saha, the current manager of Globe Cinema, has invited Akshay to attend the reopening ceremony as a special guest. In previous interviews, Akshay has talked about his early jobs and how he navigated his career on modest pay before rising to fame in Bollywood.
Looking back at his early career, Akshay remarked, “Earlier, personal criticism often left a more significant mark, affecting my confidence.” He learned to filter out unhelpful noise and focus on meaningful advice, asserting that “Constructive feedback, especially from those experienced in the industry, holds value in guiding my career choices.”
Additionally, he noted that even box-office failures served as important learning experiences, allowing him to explore a broader range of roles and genres. This willingness to adapt and embrace feedback has been crucial to his enduring success in the industry.
