Junaid Khan recently made his theatrical debut alongside Khushi Kapoor in the romantic-comedy Loveyapa. While the film received a mixed-to-positive response from audiences, it failed to perform commercially. Now, Aamir Khan has shared his thoughts on his son’s film.
Speaking about Loveyapa’s failure, Aamir expressed his disappointment, saying, “Nahi chali woh film, unfortunately. Toh mujhe uska bhi bada dukh hai. Mujhe laga film acchi hai aur Junaid ne bhi accha kaam kiya hai lekin voh film nahi chali” (That film did not work. So I’m very sad about it. I felt the film was good and even Junaid did good work, but it didn’t work out).
Aamir admitted he was more anxious about Junaid’s film than his own projects. Reflecting on the two weeks before its release, he shared, “Mai dur dekh raha hun par mera dil zor se dhadak raha hai” (I was far away, but my heart was pounding loudly). However, he remains optimistic, stating, “Baaki Junaid jo hai voh seekhega. This is a field where you have to face success and failure. Junaid is young and intelligent. He has got a lot of energy and positivity. He’ll find his way.”
Aamir also revealed that he has produced an upcoming romantic film starring Junaid and Sai Pallavi, set to release later this year. Loveyapa, directed by Advait Chandan, concluded its theatrical run with a modest worldwide box office collection of ₹8.85 crore.
