LAHORE: Rickshaw drivers in Punjab have received good news as authorities have dedicated a full day to issuing driving licences specifically for them.
This decision was made following a meeting between Additional IG Traffic and Secretary Transport.
According to a spokesperson, special driving tests for rickshaw drivers will be conducted every Sunday at designated licensing centers across the province. Special counters have been set up at these centers, with Motor Vehicle Examiners (MVEs) present during the tests to ensure proper assessment, stated the Secretary Transport.
Issuing licences to rickshaw drivers is expected to help reduce traffic accidents, said Additional IG Traffic.
Earlier, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government responded to the long-standing demand of overseas Pakistanis by launching an online driving license renewal service for them.
As per a notification from the Inspector General of Police’s office, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, overseas Pakistanis must submit scanned copies of their passport, national identity card, expired driving license, recent medical fitness certificate, and fee challan to the relevant Embassy or High Commission via email.
The embassy will then forward the application to the Inspector General of Police, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, through official email.
