Islamabad: The government has announced an increase in the prices of petroleum products for the next 15 days.
According to the notification, the price of diesel has been raised by 10 rupees 39 paisa per liter, bringing its new price to 272 rupees 98 paisa per liter.
Similarly, the price of petrol has been increased by 8 rupees 36 paisa per liter, with the new price set at 266 rupees 79 paisa.
The notification states that this increase is effective immediately. Sources indicate that along with this price hike, there has also been a change in the excise duty on petrol and diesel.
The excise duty on petrol has been reduced to 75 rupees 52 paisa per liter, while the high-speed diesel duty is now 74 rupees 51 paisa.
Additionally, the rise in fuel prices is partly attributed to a 2 rupees 50 paisa increase in the carbon levy.
Following this increase, the public is facing inflation, and the government has taken this step in response to the rise in global oil prices. Citizens have expressed concern that the increase in petrol and diesel prices will lead to higher costs for vegetables and other food items.
It is noteworthy that the government has announced that the prices of petroleum products may fluctuate over the next 15 days.
