BEIJING: The second Pakistan-China Business-to-Business (B2B) Investment Conference was successfully held in Beijing, where 21 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between Pakistani and Chinese companies across various sectors.
According to details, investment agreements and MoUs finalized during the conference will bring in a total of $4.2 billion in foreign direct investment. The investments will focus on key sectors including petrochemicals, iron and steel, and solar energy, strengthening industrial cooperation between the two countries.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the signing of the MoUs as a welcome development that will further enhance economic cooperation between Pakistan and China.
He praised the role of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), the Board of Investment, and other relevant institutions for their efforts in promoting investment in Pakistan.
Highlighting the importance of public-private partnerships, the Prime Minister said that collaboration between business communities in both countries is commendable and expressed confidence in achieving the set economic goals.
He described the conference as a “long march” towards Pakistan’s economic development and called it a milestone in the country’s journey towards prosperity.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed hope that the investments would not only strengthen the national economy but also create thousands of new employment opportunities for the people of Pakistan.
