Oil tankers association backs JI strike tomorrow

KARACHI: The All Pakistan Oil Tankers Private Association on Tuesday announced to support the nationwide strike called by Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) scheduled for tomorrow.

Mir Shams, the Chairman of the Oil Tankers Association, encouraged oil tankers and transporters to actively participate in the strike.

The nationwide strike is a protest against heavy taxes and exorbitant electricity bills.

Mir Shams emphasized the importance of a united effort to ensure the strike’s success.

It is also noteworthy that Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, the chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, announced a nationwide shutterdown strike on August 28 during a rally in Multan on August 17. The protest is aimed at addressing rising inflation and the soaring electricity tariff.

Hafiz Naeem strongly criticized the current government, accusing it of imposing unbearable inflation and unemployment on the public. He highlighted the burden of electricity bills, comparing them to bombs dropped on the people every month, and condemned the government’s failure to reduce the privileges of the elite.

Hafiz Naeem also pledged to continue the movement across the country, with rallies planned in cities like Lahore and Peshawar, to put pressure on the government to address the concerns of the general public.
