Suspects in FGEHA director’s murder ‘killed by accomplices’: Islamabad police claim – HUM News


ISLAMABAD: Two suspects allegedly involved in the murder of Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) Director Land Ehsan Elahi were killed ‘by their own accomplices’ during a crossfire in the Noon area, Islamabad Police claimed on Wednesday.

According to police, the slain suspects, identified as Abid Yasin and Abrar Khan, were wanted for the killing of Ehsan Elahi and for injuring Federal Board of Revenue Commissioner Qaiser Ashfaq in a gun attack in Blue Area on October 9.

The suspects had fled after the incident and Islamabad police had formed special teams to arrest them.

A case had been registered at the Kohsar Police Station under sections 302, 324, and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of the deceased’s brother, Waqas Elahi.

Police said that the suspects were initially arrested during a checking operation in the Noon police jurisdiction, where they also opened fire on the personnel.

According to the police, officials remained unharmed due to timely protective measures. Police also claimed to recover weapons from their possession.

According to the police, during interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the Blue Area murder incident.

Later, as the police were taking them to identify their accomplices, unidentified attackers opened fire on them in Blue Area.

During the crossfire, police personnel remained safe, but after the situation was brought under control, both suspects were found dead, who were allegedly hit by bullets of their own accomplices.

The bodies were shifted to a hospital for a post-mortem examination, while search operation is under way to apprehend the fleeing suspects, police said.

Meanwhile, six major crime incidents were reported across Islamabad during the past 24 hours, according to police data.

Four motorcycle thefts were reported from the Secretariat, Karachi Company, Tarnol, and I-9 police jurisdictions.

In the I-9 area, one street crime and one robbery case were also recorded, while a single car theft was reported in Swan Zone.

Meanwhile, Rawalpindi saw a surge in violent crime, with three murders and several incidents of theft, robbery, and snatching reported over the past 24 hours, police said.
