The history lesson was given about the billions of dollars that the United States poured into the Afghan jihad in the shape of cash and military assistance which helped different mujahedeen factions fought the Soviet military and the governments — led by Babrak Karmal and Mohammad Najibullah — Moscow backed in Kabul.

GROWING AMBITIONS

Meanwhile, the Afghan Taliban — who are backing Al Qaeda, TTP, ETIM and many other groups — are getting more and more ambitious while banking on their “terrorism expertise and resources”. The latest affair with the Hindu nationalist Narendra Modi’s government in Indian is the prime example.

It is the reason why the security experts told Afghanistan that they may impress others around the globe with their so-called bravery, but Pakistan knows their “actual value” — a reference to nature and capabilities.

And they didn’t forget citing the Tora Bora.

“Have you forgotten the Tora Bora episode from where you had run like cowards,” the security said about the US bombing of the area near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in December 2001.

AFGHAN REFUGEES

Pakistan has been giving refuge to millions of Afghans since the Soviet invasion which produced devastating social, economic and political effects on the society. And the same people are involved in crimes and terrorism in Pakistan, leading to a crimes-terrorism-politics nexus which now in full display in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

That’s why the security experts reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to sent home all the Afghan refugees, with an option for the Afghan Taliban transport them to the friendly India.

On the other hand, the interim Afghan government was also told that Pakistan will erase the bases and centres of Afghan Taliban if they allowed more terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
