PESHAWAR: A day after Ali Amin Gandapur formally resigned as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister, the Governor House denied receiving his resignation.
Sources in the KP Chief Minister’s Secretariat said, “We sent the resignation to the Governor House yesterday. Now, further action on the resignation is the Governor House’s responsibility.”
However, sources at the KP Governor House denied receiving any such resignation, saying, “Where is the resignation? We have not received anything. A chief minister’s resignation is not just a piece of paper — it is officially sent to the governor through a summary.”
They added, “If the Chief Minister’s Secretariat has sent the resignation elsewhere, they should clarify to whom it was sent. As soon as the Governor House receives the resignation, legal procedure will be followed.”
Reacting to the confusion, senior PTI leader Sheikh Waqas Akram shared a copy of Gandapur’s resignation, claiming that the Governor House staff had received it at 10:57pm last night.
He said that the resignation had already been received by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor after coordination with the Governor’s MS, and that the Governor House staff had formally received it at around 10:45 pm.

In his resignation letter, Ali Amin Gandapur wrote that he was stepping down as the chief minister in compliance with party leader Imran Khan’s directive. “Serving as the chief minister was an honour for me. I resigned in accordance with the party’s decision. When I assumed office, the province was facing a severe financial crisis and a grave threat of terrorism,” he stated.
He added, “In one and a half years, I set the province on the path of financial stability and took bold and courageous measures against terrorism. Under Imran Khan’s leadership, we launched major development projects across the province.”
Gandapur expressed gratitude to Imran Khan, party workers, cabinet members, PTI legislators, and the bureaucracy, saying he had served the public with sincerity despite all challenges.
“I have always made decisions in the national interest,” he wrote, ending his letter with: “Pakistan Zindabad, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Paindabad.”
