PD releases latest report on power restoration in flood-affected areas – HUM News


ISLAMABAD: The Power Division (PD) has provided an update on nationwide power restoration efforts in flood-affected regions, reporting steady progress as of September 28. A total of 51 grid stations and 588 feeders were affected across several power distribution companies due to recent flooding.

In areas administered by Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO), 28 grid stations and 81 feeders were impacted. Of these, 71 feeders have been fully restored, while 10 feeders have been partially restored. Power supply has been resumed in key districts including Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Chiniot, and Mianwali. FESCO expects to complete power restoration for 805 affected consumers by around September 28.

In Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) administered areas, 67 feeders were affected, of which 66 have been fully restored and 1 partially restored. Power restoration has been completed in Lahore, Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura, and Okara. Restoration work for 441 affected consumers is expected to conclude by September 29.

Out of 181 affected feeders in Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) administered areas, 48 have been fully restored and 130 partially restored. Complete restoration will begin once floodwaters recede in remaining areas.

Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) reported that 11 grids and 103 feeders were impacted. Of these, 102 feeders have been fully restored, and one is partially restored. Power supply to 16 affected consumers is pending and will be resumed once conditions improve.

Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) reported 88 feeders fully restored and three partially restored. Restoration is complete in areas such as Swat, Swabi, and Dera Ismail Khan.

In Tribal Electric Supply Company (TESCO) administered areas, particularly North Waziristan and Khyber, 18 affected feeders have been fully restored. In the Mansehra region under Hazara Electric Supply Company’s (HAZECO) jurisdiction, three affected feeders have been fully restored.

Sukkur Electric Power Company (SEPCO) has temporarily restored 44 affected feeders in its service areas.

All in all, of the 588 affected feeders, the Power Division reports that 396 feeders have been fully restored and 189 partially restored so far. Efforts are ongoing and full restoration is contingent on the receding of floodwaters in some low-lying and inaccessible areas.

The Power Division continues to coordinate closely with local administrations and emergency response teams to ensure timely restoration and minimise inconvenience to the public.
