COPENHAGEN: Danish police said on Tuesday that the drones which forced the closure of Copenhagen Airport were flown by a “capable operator”, though no suspects have yet been identified.
Airports in Copenhagen and Oslo, the busiest in the Nordic region, were shut down for hours late on Monday after multiple drone sightings in restricted airspace. The disruption left tens of thousands of passengers stranded as flights were diverted.
“We have concluded that this was what we would call a capable operator,” Chief Superintendent Jens Jespersen told reporters. “It’s an actor who has the capabilities, the will and the tools to show off in this way.”

Copenhagen Airport, one of Europe’s major hubs, was closed for four hours after officials reported two to three large drones flying in its immediate vicinity. Oslo’s Gardermoen Airport was closed for three hours following two similar sightings, Norwegian police confirmed.

Jespersen said the drones near Copenhagen appeared to be deliberately manoeuvred, coming from several directions and switching their lights on and off before vanishing after several hours. Investigators have not yet determined whether the Danish and Norwegian incidents were connected.
Authorities in both countries are continuing to probe the unprecedented disruption, which has raised security concerns about the vulnerability of critical infrastructure to drone activity.
