Asia Cup 2025: Match referee replaced after dispute, Pakistan to play the match tomorrow
The ongoing dispute in the Asia Cup 2025 has finally been resolved after the match referee was replaced. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had refused to let the team play until referee Andy Pycroft was removed from their matches.
According to sources, the International Cricket Council (ICC) decided to replace Pycroft for Pakistan’s upcoming fixtures. It is expected that Richie Richardson will now serve as match referee for Pakistan’s games.
PCB officials confirmed they stood firm on their stance and made it clear they would not send the team onto the field under Pycroft’s supervision. After his removal, Pakistan will now move ahead with its scheduled matches.
Pakistan is set to play its next Asia Cup match against Hong Kong tomorrow. The team is still in Dubai, and players were reportedly unaware of the developments until the decision was finalized.
PCB sources added that the final announcement about Pakistan’s participation has been made, and the team will continue the tournament as planned.
