RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan has refused to disclose the name of the person who manages his X (formerly Twitter) account during questioning by a Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) team at Adiala Jail.
According to sources, the FIA’s cybercrime wing launched an investigation after allegedly repeated anti-state posts appeared from Khan’s account.
A three-member FIA cybercrime team, led by Ayaz Khan, visited Adiala Jail and questioned Khan about who operated his account, from where it was being accessed, who had been given access, and whether he was aware of anti-state content being posted.
Imran Khan reportedly told the team he would not disclose the account handler. He instead demanded a written questionnaire and insisted he would respond only in the presence of his lawyers.
The FIA team remained at Adiala Jail for more than an hour before leaving.
Earlier on Wednesday, the PTI’s official X account quoted Imran Khan as saying that a leaked Commonwealth report on the February 8 general election “exposed how shamelessly and brazenly our mandate was stolen.”
Khan accused Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja of facilitating electoral fraud and covering it up, saying: “In Pakistan, the law on vote theft is strict, and Article 6 applies to such acts. But at present, all laws in the country stand suspended except the so-called ‘Asim Law’.”
Referring to former Rawalpindi commissioner Liaqat Ali Chattha, who earlier accused the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) of rigging before retracting his statement, Khan said he (Chattha) “deserve praise for prioritising conscience over office.” He added that “after this theft, the people were massacred and the 26th Constitutional Amendment was passed,” and lauded judges who opposed the amendment.

“کامن ویلتھ کی 8 فروری کے الیکشن پر جو رپورٹ لیک ہوئی ہے اس نے بھی انتخابی دھاندلی کا پول کھول دیا ہے کہ کیسے بےشرمی اور ڈھٹائی سے ہمارا مینڈیٹ چوری کیا گیا۔

“The time to legally accept a government formed through rigging has now ended,” Khan declared, adding that this was why his party had resigned from the Senate and parliamentary committees.
He urged PTI lawmakers not to fear the “Asim Law” or imprisonment, saying: “A single individual, driven by lust for power, wants to suppress you. The more you fear him, the more he will press you down. You are on the side of truth, and truth makes one courageous — and in the end, truth always prevails.”
In an interview in 2024, former PTI spokesperson Raoof Hasan had said that the official X account of Imran Khan was being operated from abroad and the party’s social media head was based in the United States.
