Gold is considered a valuable commodity and is traded all over the world. Because of its rarity and durability, it has been used for centuries as a safe way to store wealth and protect against inflation. People trade gold in different forms such as physical bars, futures contracts, and exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
During times of economic uncertainty, investors often turn to gold because it usually keeps its value even when other assets fall. The main centers for gold trading are in London, New York, and Shanghai. Gold prices are affected by things like interest rates, currency strength, and political events, which is why it remains an important part of investment portfolios.
