KARACHI: Local mobile companies manufactured and assembled 3.59 million units in July 2025, up 123 per cent year-on-year (YoY) and 64 per cent month-on-month (MoM), according to data released by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
A report by Topline Securities attributed the surge to a low base effect. In July 2024, sales had dropped due to excessive pre-buying in June ahead of budgetary changes.
Local mobile companies manufactured or assembled 2.19 million units during June 2025, down 49 percent year-on-year compared to 4.26 million units in June 2024.
Similarly, volumes in June 2025 fell to 2.19 million units amid supply chain disruptions caused by regional conflicts, lifting July’s MoM comparison.
During the first seven months of 2025, locally manufactured and assembled mobile phones totalled 17.83 million units, down 6 per cent YoY. Of these, 52 per cent (9.36 million) were 2G phones, while 48 per cent (8.47 million) were smartphones.

Outlook: Topline Securities expects mobile phone sales to grow by 7–8 per cent YoY over the next 12 months, as base effects normalise and inflation eases. Seasonal product launches by brands such as Samsung and Xiaomi in September are also expected to support demand.
Within the listed space, Airlink Communication (AIRLINK) and Lucky Cement (LUCK) stand to benefit, given their partnerships with Tecno, Xiaomi, and Samsung, which rank among Pakistan’s top-selling brands.
Sources said that major players in the mobile industry have actively participated, ushering in a new era of local manufacturing.
