Jinnah House attack case: Aleema Khan’s son granted bail – HUM News

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court in Lahore on Thursday approved the post-arrest bail of Sher Shah, the son of Aleema Khan, in the May 9 Jinnah House attack case.

ATC Judge Manzar Ali Gul heard Sher Shah’s post-arrest bail plea.

PTI founder Imran Khan’s sisters, Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan, appeared in court, while former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s wife, Mehreen Qureshi, was also present.

Sher Shah’s lawyers Rana Muddasir and Barrister Taimoor represented him before the court.

Advocate Rana Muddasir argued that no challan had been filed against his client so far and it was unclear when the trial would begin.

He said that his client could not be kept in custody indefinitely without evidence, stressing that his client had no involvement in any violence.

The counsel maintained that several accused facing graver charges had already been granted bail, whereas Sher Shah had not been accused of vandalism.

He said that one accused’s statement alone could not be used to implicate another.

After hearing arguments, the court reserved its verdict and later granted bail to Sher Shah, who is also Imran Khan’s nephew.

The court issued his release order against surety bonds of Rs100,000.

Sher Shah was taken into custody when he arrived at the court for his brother Shahrez’s hearing on August 22.

A day earlier, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore granted bail to Shahriz Khan, son of Aleema Khan, in the Jinnah House attack case.

Shahrez Khan, Imran Khan’s nephew and Aleema Khan’s son, had been arrested in connection with the May 9 cases.

ATC Judge Manzar Ali Gill had earlier reserved the verdict on the post-arrest bail plea of Shahriz Khan. The court announced the verdict on Wednesday, approving the bail application and ordering Shahriz’s release.

During the hearing, Shahriz’s counsel, Rana Mudassir Umar, argued that his client was accused of inciting workers, but investigations — including geofencing of all individuals linked to the case — had found no evidence against him.

The lawyer said the charge sheet clearly named unknown suspects, but Shahriz’s name was not mentioned anywhere, nor had any investigating officer given a statement against him.
