ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert for possible heavy rains in Islamabad and various districts of Punjab from September 1 to 3.
According to NDMA, more rains in flood-hit areas may worsen the flooding situation, while northeastern, central, and southern Punjab districts could be affected.
NDMA stated that possible rains in Murree, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, and Mandi Bahauddin could worsen flooding conditions, while Gujrat, Gujranwala, and Hafizabad may also face the risk of flooding due to heavy rainfall.

Flood threats are also feared in Chiniot, Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Sheikhupura, and Faisalabad. In addition, districts like Sargodha, Bhakkar, Layyah, and Mianwali may experience a more severe flood situation.
Schools reopen in Punjab after summer break
As per NDMA, DG Khan, Sahiwal, Multan, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, and Rahim Yar Khan districts could also witness worsening flooding conditions, with a rise in floodwaters and inflows at Marala Headworks.
NDMA has urged residents in low-lying areas and near rivers to stay alert, while the public and concerned departments should take precautionary measures. People have been advised to stay away from dangerous and flood-prone areas, avoid crossing submerged bridges, streams, and waterlogged roads.
The authority has directed relevant institutions to take advance measures to deal with potential threats and instructed local administrations to keep the necessary machinery ready for water drainage in low-lying areas.
