ISLAMABAD: The ongoing spell of monsoon rains will persist across most parts of Pakistan till September 1, the Meteorological Department said on Saturday.
Showers with thunder are expected in Islamabad and several areas of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir over the next three days.
According to the forecast, heavy rains could trigger flooding in low-lying areas of Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan, while landslides may hit Malakand, Hazara.
In Punjab, heavy downpours are likely in Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, and surrounding districts.
Under the influnce of this system moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in different areas of Azad Kashmir including Kotli, Bagh, Mirpur, Poonch, Rawalakot, Muzaffarabad, Haveli and the surrounding regions. The system can cause localized urban and low-lying area flooding, landslides and flash flooding.

Karachi and other coastal areas of Sindh may also face urban flooding due to intense showers.
In Gilgit Baltistan, heavy rains can cause landsliding and Glacial Lake Outburst Flood in the districts of Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, Diamer, Astore, Ghizer and Ghanche.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has advised tourists to avoid northern regions till the current system weakens on September 1.
Rescue teams remain on high alert to tackle any emergency situation.
