ITP strikes hard on traffic violations: lane, underage driving, illegal parking – HUM News

ISLAMABAD: Over 4,000 offenders have been penalised by the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) in one week for different kinds of violations.

This was revealed by an extensive performance report released by the ITP on the traffic enforcement campaign being carried out on the direction of Islamabad Inspector General (IG) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi.

The report details the actions taken against violators of traffic laws in the federal capital. According to a Islamabad Police spokesperson, the campaign resulted in the registration of 112 cases within a single week. During this period, authorities also impounded 1,119 motorcycles and 412 vehicles for various traffic rule violations.

Leveraging modern technology, drone surveillance was also employed to monitor key routes, leading to fines for 48 drivers caught violating traffic regulations on camera. Other figures, as mentioned in the report, include:

  • 845 drivers fined for lane violations
  • 76 individuals caught driving without a license
  • 11 riders penalized for triple riding
  • 23 underage drivers fined heavily
  • 923 cases of driving in the wrong direction
  • 1,007 motorcyclists penalized for riding without helmets
  • 2,766 violations recorded for illegal parking

Islamabad Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Capt. (R) Syed Zeeshan Haider said that the traffic police is operating with a zero tolerance policy toward traffic rule violations. He added that the operations against violations will continue without discrimination.

“No one will be allowed to drive without a valid license,” the CTO said. He also urged citizens to cooperate with traffic officials to ensure road safety and smooth traffic flow across Islamabad.

The ITP has announced to maintain this momentum on traffic violations in the coming weeks, aiming to foster a culture of responsible driving and enforce the rule of law on Islamabad’s roads.
