ISLAMABAD: The Embassy of Sweden has officially announced the resumption of visa services for Pakistan with immediate effect for the facilitation of Pakistanis.
According to the embassy, individuals wishing to travel to Sweden can now submit their visa applications in Islamabad.
In a statement, the embassy said Pakistani citizens can apply for a 90-day Schengen visa from within Pakistan. The applications will be received via VFS Global in Islamabad.
The decision was made following consultations with the Swedish government, and visa services in Islamabad have now been formally restored.
Sweden had temporarily suspended visa operations in April 2023 due to security concerns.
The embassy added that more information is available on the website of the Swedish Migration Agency, and applicants are encouraged to review all requirements and guidelines before submitting their applications to avoid any issues.
This move follows the Bilateral Political Consultations (BPC) held between the Foreign Ministries of Pakistan and Sweden in Stockholm on Wednesday, July 2.
“The Government of Pakistan welcomes this encouraging step, which signals a further strengthening of bilateral ties between the two nations,” said the Foreign Office spokesperson.
