ISLAMABAD: Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki, met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday, with discussions centering on strengthening bilateral relations and regional peace efforts.
PM Shehbaz conveyed his ‘sincere sentiments’ for Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, praising the Kingdom’s role in promoting stability in the Middle East. He also acknowledged Saudi Arabia’s “constructive efforts” in facilitating the May 10 ceasefire between Pakistan and India.
The meeting took place as Pakistan assumed the presidency of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for July. The premier expressed his resolve to leverage Saudi support in navigating key global challenges during Pakistan’s tenure.
Ambassador Al-Malki thanked Pakistan for its “positive role” in regional peace and stability.

On June 24, PM Shehbaz and Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Tuesday exchanged views on the rapidly evolving situation in the Middle East. The prime minister held a telephone conversation with the Saudi crown prince.
The prime minister said that Pakistan fully supported the immediate de-escalation of the Iran-Israel conflict, as well as its peaceful resolution through dialogue and diplomacy. While referring to the attacks in Iran, he called for adherence to international law and the UN Charter principles by all sides.
In this context, the prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, PM Office Media Wing said in a press release. The prime minister had then too reiterated profound gratitude for the Kingdom’s steadfast support to Pakistan during the recent standoff with India and said that Pakistan was ready to engage in a meaningful dialogue with India on all outstanding issues, including Jammu and Kashmir, water, trade and terrorism.
