Premier League signs Five-Year AI deal with Microsoft
The English Premier League and Microsoft announced on Tuesday a five-year partnership under which the tech giant will integrate its artificial intelligence tool, Copilot, into the league’s digital platforms to deliver quick facts and match statistics.
They said fans will be able to explore information about Premier League clubs, players, and matches through an AI companion powered by Microsoft’s Copilot, which draws data from over 30 seasons of statistics, 300,000 articles, and 9,000 videos.
Sports leagues and entertainment companies have increasingly embraced AI to streamline vast amounts of data, attract larger audiences, and boost engagement.
Spain’s LaLiga soccer league, home to clubs like Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, uses AI for match analysis and media production, while its clubs introduce AI-driven experiences to engage more fans.
The Premier League, England’s top soccer league, is migrating its core digital infrastructure to Microsoft Azure to simplify AI integration and build a unified platform for the league.
