Next iPad Pro may feature even thinner bezels, leak suggests – HUM News

WEB DESK: Apple might be working on making the bezels around the screen of the next iPad Pro even thinner than before.

According to a post shared today on Chinese social media platform Weibo, a well-known account called Instant Digital claimed that the bezels on upcoming iPad Pro models could be as slim as those on Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. However, the post added that the new iPads will not have a notch.

Instant Digital has over 1.4 million followers on Weibo and has shared accurate Apple leaks in the past, such as the yellow colour for the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, and the Titanium Milanese Loop band for the Apple Watch Ultra 2. Still, like most leak accounts, it hasn’t always been right.

Earlier this week, a report said Apple is considering using LG’s chip-on-film (CoF) technology in future iPad Pro displays. This technology lets display drivers sit closer to the screen, which makes it easier to reduce the size of the bezels.

The latest iPad Pro models with the M4 chip, launched in May 2024, already have slightly thinner bezels than the previous M2 models. But the next generation is expected to shrink them even more.

That said, Instant Digital also mentioned that these ultra-thin bezels might not be ready in time for the very next iPad Pro refresh.

Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had earlier predicted that iPad Pro models with the M5 chip would go into mass production in the second half of 2025. However, since Apple usually refreshes the iPad Pro lineup every 18 months, there’s still a chance new models could arrive around September or October this year.
