Mohsin Naqvi chairs meeting on Muharram security – HUM News


ISLAMABAD: A high-level meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday reviewed security and administrative arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haraam in the federal capital.

The meeting thoroughly examined security measures and other logistical plans for processions and gatherings during the holy month. The interior minister directed strict checking at entry and exit points of processions and majalis (mourning assemblies).

Enhanced Security Measures

To monitor the security situation, a control room will be established in Safe City. Naqvi reiterated a zero-tolerance policy against provocative material and ordered strict monitoring of social media platforms. He also stressed the use of modern technology for surveillance of processions and gatherings. “Foolproof security must be ensured to thwart the nefarious designs of hostile elements,” he said.

Welfare of Personnel

The minister instructed officials to ensure proper meal arrangements for personnel on duty. He also called for shifts to be scheduled in a way that allows adequate rest for security staff.

Coordination with Religious Scholars

Naqvi highlighted the importance of maintaining close contact with scholars from all schools of thought to ensure peace and harmony. He further directed strict adherence to the code of conduct during Muharram events.

The meeting was attended by State Minister Talal Chaudhry, Additional Interior Secretary, the Deputy Commissioner, and other senior officials.
