ISLAMABAD: The number of telecom subscribers in the country has reached 200 million, according to the latest data released by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
PTA has also announced a package for mobile users in celebration of achieving this milestone. The package includes 2 GB of free data and 200-on net minutes. The offer will be valid for 24 hours, and will be applicable on June 20, 2025.
Subscribers of any Pakistan telecom service provider can avail the offer by dialing *#2200#.
PTA said that the actual number of mobile phone subscribers in the country is more than 197.7 million, adding that the telecom coverage has now reached 80.3 per cent of the areas in the country.
The number of broadband subscribers is more than 143 million, PTA said. Moreover, the number of fixed telephone subscribers is more than three million.
FREE HANDSETS FOR FEMALES
The PTA has also announced free handsets for female SIM owners. In collaboration with mobile manufacturers, the regulator will be distributing 2,000 locally assembled free smartphones for women who have SIM issued in their names.
The handsets will be distributed across Pakistan, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan.
