JERUSALEM: Air raid sirens and booms rang out in Jerusalem while missiles flew across the sky on Sunday evening, AFP journalists said, as Israel and Iran exchanged fire for a third day.
“Sirens sounded in several areas across Israel following the identification of missiles launched from Iran toward the State of Israel,” the military said in a statement.
According to initial reports, the latest Iranian airstrike included four ballistic missiles, hitting significant targets in both the Israeli capital Tel Aviv and city Jerusalem.
Iran also fired ballistic missiles towards Israel earlier in the day, IRNA reported, as President Masoud Pezeshkian warned that his country’s responses to Israeli attacks would be “more decisive and severe” if Israel’s hostile actions continued.
As the Iranian missiles bypassed Israel’s multilayer defence system, explosions were being heard in Tel Aviv.

The Iranian state news agency claimed that they had also targeted a private residence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Caesarea – a city located along the Mediterranean Sea.
It also said that Netanyahu had left the bunker after several days on Sunday.
In its reaction, the Israeli military confirmed the reports, saying Iran has launched another missile attack.
STATE OF EMERGENCY EXTENDED
On the other hand, Reuters quoted Israeli media as saying that the government has extended the state of emergency until June 30.
It means Netanyahu knows that Iran won’t stop resisting the Israeli aggression and there is very little chance of forcing Iran to surrender despite the claims made by Israel about devastating the Islamic Resistance.
The latest Iranian response comes despite the fact that Germany and France have again voiced their support to Israel.
Germany said Iran should never have nuclear weapons, while France described it as threat to both Israel and Europe.
Earlier, AFP in a report described the devastation caused by Iranian missiles in a the previous attack, showing the effectiveness of Tehran’s response.
TEHRAN POLICE HEADQUARTERS
As Israel continues bombing Iran, the Iranian media said on Sunday that an Israeli strike hit the Tehran police headquarters in the city centre.
“The Greater Tehran Police Command was hit by one of the enemy’s drones,” ISNA news agency reported, citing a police statement. It added that the attack caused “minor damage” and injured “a number” of police personnel.
