KOHISTAN: Torrential rains lashed Upper Kohistan and Gilgit-Baltistan’s Diamer district overnight, triggering landslides at six locations along the Karakoram Highway (KKH), police said.
According to Kohistan police, landslides occurred near Dasu and other points, leading to a complete closure of the KKH for all types of traffic.
Freight and passenger vehicles remain stranded on both sides of the Karakoram Highway.
Authorities have halted vehicle movement due to safety concerns, and clearance operations have not yet begun, reportedly due to ongoing rainfall and difficult conditions in the area.
Weather forecast: Storms, sunshine and surprises ahead!
Efforts to restore the crucial trade and travel route are expected to begin once weather conditions improve.
