- Kim Soo Hyun’s agency confirmed the authenticity of the photos.
Following the tragic suicide of actress Kim Sae Ron in February, speculation about her personal life has surfaced, drawing attention to her past relationship with actor Kim Soo Hyun. Leaked pictures and letters have led to suspicions regarding the timeline of their romance, with some alleging that she was a minor when they began dating.
Addressing these claims, Kim Soo Hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, issued a statement—translated by Korean Updates—confirming the authenticity of the photos and letters shared by Garosero Research Institute.
However, they denied the allegations that Sae-ron was underage at the time. According to the agency, “she was an adult when they dated from the summer of 2019 to the fall of 2020.” They also acknowledged that letters written by Soo Hyun during his military service were real but clarified that the affectionate language used was common among close friends.
The agency further stated that while they intended to provide proof next week, the actor’s mental health has deteriorated due to the controversy. Reports from Kpop Charts indicate that he has been in “shock since it was pointed out that he might be one of the reasons for her death.” Gold Medalist added that he is experiencing “acute psychological instability” and struggling with “the psychological pressure of people with cameras.”
Meanwhile, Garosero Research Institute has threatened to release more “shocking photos and videos” unless Soo Hyun publicly apologizes. They claimed, “Actress Kim Sae Ron personally revealed…that she dated Kim Soo Hyun for six years, from November 19, 2015, until July 7, 2021, when she was in her second year of middle school.”
Kim Sae Ron, 24, was found dead on February 16, with her funeral held on February 19. Her death was ruled a suicide. The actress had previously faced scrutiny after a DUI incident in 2022, leading to harsh criticism and online bullying.
