KARACHI: The Hindu community in Pakistan and the rest of the world celebrate the main event of their religious festival Holi on Friday.
The Sindh government has declared a two-day holiday (Thursday and Friday) for Hindu employees in celebration of Holi.
According to an official notification, Hindu employees across Sindh will get leave to observe the religious festival, which is widely celebrated by the community. The holiday allows them to participate in festivities without work commitments.
Holi, marking the arrival of spring, was celebrated with enthusiasm. Community members sprayed colors on each other. In Sukkur, colourful events were held in various localities and temples, where women and children actively participated with devotion.
HOLI CELEBRATIONS IN RAWALPINDI
Over 50 families gathered at Krishna Temple in Saddar, where Priest Jai Ram led religious rituals of Choti Holi, before the main event of Rangwali Holi being celebrated today (Friday). The event began with prayers (Pooja) for Krishna, Ram, Durga, and Hanuman, followed by the distribution of sweets and fruits.
Young and old joined in, splashing colours with joy. Before the function, the Hindu community prayed for the country’s prosperity, hoping the festival would bring peace, harmony, and brotherhood.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday extended his heartfelt greetings to the Hindu community in Pakistan as they celebrated the Holi festival.
“The vibrant energy that surrounds this festivity marks the arrival of spring, symbolising love and the triumph of good over evil,” the prime minister wrote on his X timeline.
He said that while celebrating new beginnings, renewal, and the strengthening of relationships, this occasion also highlighted the importance of diversity and the power of inclusion in building a stronger, more unified nation.
“May this festival of colours fill your lives with happiness, health success, and prosperity. Happy Holi!, ” he remarked.
